About this experience
Join a whale shark tour from Cancun and experience the unforgettable thrill of snorkeling alongside the largest fish in the ocean. During whale shark season, these gentle giants gather in the waters north of Cancún and Isla Mujeres, creating one of the most extraordinary wildlife encounters in the Mexican Caribbean.
Your full-day whale shark snorkeling tour begins with convenient hotel pickup from Cancún, Playa del Carmen or selected locations along the Riviera Maya. After a light breakfast and safety briefing at the marina, you will travel by boat to the seasonal whale shark aggregation area.
Once the whale sharks are located, you will enter the water in pairs accompanied by a certified guide. Life jackets are mandatory and all snorkeling equipment is provided, making the experience accessible to beginners, families and guests who are not confident swimmers. Your guide remains in the water with you and explains how to approach the animals respectfully while maintaining the required distance.
After swimming with the whale sharks, the tour continues to the turquoise waters of Isla Mujeres. Relax in the shallow Caribbean Sea, enjoy some free time and have lunch on board before returning to the marina and transferring back to your accommodation.
The experience includes round-trip transportation, boat travel, guided whale shark snorkeling, life jackets, snorkeling equipment, breakfast, water, snacks and lunch near Isla Mujeres.
Available during the summer whale shark season, this tour is ideal for travellers searching for a whale shark tour in Cancun, a whale shark excursion from Playa del Carmen or a once-in-a-lifetime snorkeling experience in the Riviera Maya.
